The Manchester Indian: Thomas Wardle and India

An entrepreneur and pioneer, Thomas Wardle was knighted for his services to the silk industry. Examining his developments, this exhibition at Manchester's Whitworth Gallery features both drapes of iridescent Asian fabrics and lush, intricate designs produced in Britain.
